Durable finish. Consistent appearance. Long-lasting protection.

Powder coating is a dry finishing process where charged powder is applied to grounded metal and then heated to form a continuous protective finish. It provides a durable finish with consistent colour, coverage, and a wide range of appearance options.

WHAT IS POWDER COATING?

Powder coating uses finely ground resin, pigment, and additives that are sprayed onto a grounded metal part as a dry powder.

During curing, heat melts the powder and crosslinks it into a solid coating film that becomes the finished surface.

WHY CHOOSE POWDER COATING?

Durable & Impact-Resistant

Powder coating provides a durable finish for metal components exposed to everyday wear and handling.

Consistent Colour & Coverage

A controlled application and curing process helps maintain a consistent appearance across production runs.

Efficient Material Use

The dry powder application process allows for efficient material use while providing uniform coverage.

Wide Range of Finishes

Powder coating is available in a wide variety of colours, gloss levels, and textures to meet different application and appearance requirements.

COMMON APPLICATIONS

Powder coating is commonly used on:

Enclosures • Frames • Brackets • Racks • Guards • Automotive Components • Industrial Components

It is suitable for both simple and complex metal parts when proper preparation, grounding, and the appropriate powder system are used.

THE PROCESS AT A GLANCE

PREPARE → APPLY → CURE → INSPECT

PREPARE: The metal surface is properly prepared before coating.

APPLY: Charged powder is sprayed onto the grounded metal part.

CURE: Heat melts and crosslinks the powder into a continuous coating film.

INSPECT: The finished part is checked for appearance and coating quality.

GOOD TO KNOW

Powder coating performance depends on several factors, including substrate preparation, grounding, film thickness, part size and geometry, and curing conditions.

Proper process control is essential for achieving consistent finish quality and performance.

FROM FABRICATION TO FINISHING

At MTD Metro Tool & Die Ltd., powder coating is part of our broader manufacturing capabilities. We support projects with metal stamping, tooling, fabrication, welding, assembly, powder coating, and metal finishing.

Whether you need a single component or a repeat-production program, MTD can support your manufacturing requirements from fabrication through finishing.
