Progressive dies and transfer dies are two high-efficiency stamping solutions used to produce precision metal components. While both achieve the same goal, they use different methods depending on part size, complexity, and production requirements.


A progressive die uses a continuous strip of metal that moves through multiple stations within the same tool. Each station performs a specific operation such as blanking, piercing, forming, and trimming until the finished part is completed. This makes progressive dies ideal for small to medium-sized components requiring high-volume production and consistent repeatability.


A transfer die separates the part from the strip and moves it between stations using mechanical grippers. This approach provides greater flexibility for larger, deeper-drawn, and more complex components.
